Who we are

Moms for Liberty – Wayne County is the local chapter of the national Moms for Liberty organization. Our mission is to unite, educate, and empower parents, grandparents and community members across Wayne County and Michigan to defend parental rights, promote transparency in education, and protect the future of our children.

At the national level, Moms for Liberty states: “We are dedicated to fighting for the survival of America by unifying, educating and empowering parents to defend their parental rights at all levels of government.”

Our Vision

We envision a Michigan where parents play the primary role in their children’s education and upbringing, where school systems operate with full transparency, and where strong local chapters across counties hold district and state education authorities accountable.

The national vision: “Americans empowered and thriving in a culture of Liberty.”

What we stand for

  • Parental Rights: Every parent has the right to know what’s being taught in school, to access curriculum information, and to participate in decisions affecting their child’s education.
  • Educational Transparency: Schools and districts should be open about materials, policies, and procedures. Families deserve clear, timely information—no surprises.
  • Family & Liberty: When families engage, democracy works. Strong communities begin with active parent voice.
  • Local Action, State Impact: While education is national in scope, its impact is local. We work in Wayne County and build networks that scale state-wide.

Recent Efforts in Wayne County

• We have partnered with parents and open-records advocates to request curriculum and classroom materials from school districts within Wayne County.
• We have convened community information sessions to help parents understand state education proposals affecting health, social-emotional learning and parental consent policies.
• We’ve supported local parents attending school board meetings, submitting public comments, and raising questions about budget, staffing and transparency.
• We continue to expand our chapter network so that every district in Wayne County has a contact-person or team focused on parental engagement.

Why this matters now

In a time of rapid educational change—shifts in curriculum, policy, health mandates, and technology use—parents cannot afford to stay on the sidelines. Local governance matters. School boards, district administrators and state education agencies often make decisions with long-term effects. Without an active parent voice, the defaults may drift away from family expectations. That’s why you matter. Your attendance, your voice, your network make all the difference.
