Moms for Liberty – Wayne County Chapter Announces Its Mission to Defend Parental Rights Across Downriver and Michigan

Local Parents Unite Against State Board of Education Health Curriculum Changes

Wayne County, MI — October 31, 2025 — The Moms for Liberty – Wayne County Chapter proudly announces its launch and community outreach initiative to defend the rights of parents and families across the Downriver region, Wayne County, and the State of Michigan.

Formed by parents, grandparents, educators, and community leaders, the chapter’s mission is clear: to unify, educate, and empower parents to stand for their rights and to ensure that families — not bureaucrats — guide the education and upbringing of their children.

“When parents stand together — we are unstoppable,” said Chapter Chair Shannon Ciecko. “We don’t have to wait for permission to speak up. Parents are the stakeholders in their children’s education, and it’s time their voices are heard at every level.”

Protecting Families Amid Curriculum Controversy

Recent proposals by the Michigan State Board of Education to alter state health class standards have drawn strong concern from parents throughout the region. These changes — which touch on sensitive subjects and parental consent — are prompting communities to demand more transparency and collaboration before new curriculum materials are introduced in schools.

Moms for Liberty – Wayne County is responding by organizing a united effort to ensure parents remain active participants in all educational decisions that affect their children.

Key Priorities of the Chapter

  • Inform and Equip Parents: Provide clear, accessible information and guidance about proposed curriculum changes, ensuring families understand what’s being taught in local classrooms.
  • Hold Decision-Makers Accountable: Monitor school boards, district administrators, and state officials to ensure transparency, parental input, and adherence to community standards.
  • Mobilize Community Engagement: Encourage parents, grandparents, and residents to attend meetings, submit public comments, and engage with legislators to protect educational freedom.
  • Advocate for Parental Rights: Champion policies and legislation that reinforce parental authority in education, health, and moral development.

A Call to Action

Moms for Liberty – Wayne County invites all parents, grandparents, and concerned citizens to join the movement. Membership is open to anyone who values freedom, transparency, and the fundamental right of parents to guide their children’s education.
